ASA Data Center Survives Hurricane Sandy

Merrimack, NH (November 19, 2012)
– While the winds of Hurricane Sandy abated some time ago, the storm’s impact will be felt for some time Unfortunately for some, it will have a lifetime effect.  Clients of ASA Automotive Systems, the industry leader in providing software systems and services to independent tire dealers and automotive service centers, whose data is hosted at the ASA data center weathered the storm with no loss in service.

ASA’s data center facility, which is located in Andover, MA, has more than 40 virtual servers supporting approximately 1000 users.  Windstream (formally PAETEC), the SAS70 Tier II certified facility that ASA has contracted with, has the infrastructure to provide the top-notch service that our customers demand and deserve. The data center includes the latest in physical and IP‐based security as well as redundancy, including redundant power, network connectivity, two‐tier security including biometrics, cooling, and 24x7 staffed monitoring.

“Hurricane Sandy gave ASA the unfortunate chance to put its disaster preparedness efforts to the test,” said Scott Hopkins, vice president of operations at ASA Automotive Systems.  “During the storm, our customers received the highest level of service possible—the power to run their businesses.”

According to early calculations, Sandy caused an estimated $20 billion in damage and could be the second-costliest Atlantic hurricane in history.
